Traveling to Belize A passport is required for citizens of the United States to visit Belize. If you do not have a passport, we can provide information for accelerated application. You are encouraged to apply for a passport immediatelyit is always good to have one in any event. The normal time it takes to receive a passport is 6 weeks, but you can pay extra for expedited service and receive it in 7-10 days. To get a passport you will need proof of citizenship and two passport photos. Visitors are permitted to stay in Belize for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days. Note: US and Canadian citizens, nationals of Caricom countries and of the European Community member nations do not require visas. Belize is located on the Caribbean coast south of Cancun. A former British colony, Belize has a long history of stability, democracy and tranquility unmatched in the region. The official language of Belize is English. To the east, Belize is graced with the Caribbean Sea and 174 miles of unbroken barrier reef. Snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, water-skiing, windsurfing, boat races and swimming are favorite activities. In the interior, Belize has an unspoiled world of lush tropical rain forests with intriguing and diverse animal and plant populations, as well as limestone caves, scenic rivers and Maya temples and monuments. With more than 600 Maya cities, Belize is the center of the ancient Maya world. |
